Unveiling the Truth: Brian May's Take on Freddie Mercury's Alleged Secret Daughter
In a recent revelation that has sent shockwaves through the music industry, Anita Dobson, wife of Queen guitarist Brian May, has shared her husband's reaction to the claim that Freddie Mercury, the iconic frontman, had a secret daughter. But here's where it gets controversial...
According to a new biography, "Love, Freddie: Freddie Mercury's Secret Life and Love," it is alleged that Mercury fathered a child during an affair with the wife of a close friend in 1976. The book claims that Mercury's inner circle, including his bandmates, have known about this daughter for almost five decades.
However, guitarist Brian May was taken aback by this revelation. Dobson, a former EastEnders star, shared their response, stating, "Why wait this long? Brian thinks it's a load of rubbish. I knew Freddie well, and I think Brian would trust me with such knowledge."
Dobson further added, "If it's true, we'd all like to meet her."
The alleged daughter, now 48, has worked with rock biographer Lesley-Ann Jones on the new book, which was published in September. The woman, known only as B, claims a close relationship with Mercury "from birth until his final days."
Mercury is said to have given her detailed personal journals, which she kept secret until recently sharing their contents with Jones. One passage reads, "He adored me and was devoted to me. The circumstances of my birth may seem unusual, but his love and commitment to me never wavered."
Jones, the biographer, initially doubted the claims but is now convinced of their authenticity. She told the Mail, "She is not a fantasist. No one could have faked all this. Why would she have worked with me for years, never demanding anything?"
Mercury apparently started writing these diaries on June 20, 1976, two days after Queen released their single "You're My Best Friend." The final entry was on July 31, 1991, just months before his death from bronchial pneumonia caused by AIDS.
B, the alleged daughter, has chosen to share Mercury's journals, stating, "After decades of lies and speculation, I decided to reveal myself. Those who knew of my existence kept Freddie's secret out of loyalty."
This revelation has sparked a debate among fans and music enthusiasts. What are your thoughts? Do you think this claim holds water, or is it a sensationalized story? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below!
